8.2.1. Accessing the Switch
The switch can be accessed through the following:
USB Serial Port on the switch
The port settings are 115200,8,1,N,N.
Login is required.
Using the USB port allows permanent access to the switch, even if Secure Shell (SSH) is not functioning.
Ethernet for switch communication
DHCP is enabled by default. Ensure that the MAC Address is added to the DHCP server.
If DHCP is disabled, set up static addresses through the CLI.
Using Ethernet with SSH requires a login and password.
The following user modes are available.
Administrator:
Read and write access
Reboot access
Change operator and administrator passwords
View all current user sessions
Operator:
Read only access
The Switch CLI allows multiple users (up to six) to be logged in simultaneously. However, some commands are locked to users if another user is executing the same command. Note that if CLI sessions are not exited properly, the session remains active and may prevent future sessions from accessing the switch.
Note
Switch BMC processors only have two cores. Therefore, multiple active sessions may result in delays.
