6.8. IPoIB

This section provides recommended settings for configuring the OpenFabrics Alliance (OFA) IPoIB network interface.

For additional details, refer to the CN5000 Fabric Installation Guide, Configure IPoIB Network Interface.

Cluster administrators can choose between running IPoIB in connected mode or datagram mode. While connected mode can be configured to run at a larger MTU (up to 65,520 bytes), it does not scale with parallel threads as well as datagram mode. With CN5000, the maximum MTU for datagram mode is 10,236 bytes, but parallel threads typically deliver higher peak throughput than connected mode.
