Cornelis Networks recommends that you refer to the AMD High Performance Tuning Guide relevant to your generation of EPYC processor.

Note

On AMD platforms, you must set iommu=pt as a kernel boot parameter, follow the instructions provided in the IOMMU Passthrough Mode.

BIOS Setting

Value

Description

Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT)

Disabled

Best performance for HPC workloads typically seen when SMT is disabled.

L3 Cache as NUMA Node

Disabled

Simplifies NUMA topology and improves bandwidth.

APBDIS

Enabled

Disables dynamic power management.

NUMA per socket (NPS)1

No recommendation

Number of NUMA nodes per socket.

NOTE:

  1. Optimal NPS is application/workload dependent. The highest message rates with CN5000 are measured with NPS=1, but various applications may benefit from NPS=4.
