3.2.7. Cabling Requirements
CN5000 products use pre-qualified standard Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable (QSFP) cables. Supported cable types include Direct Attach Cable (DAC), Active Copper Cable (ACC), and Active Optical Cable (AOC). Contact Cornelis Technical Support or an authorized Reseller for a list of qualified cables. For additional cable information, refer to the Cable section of the CN5000 Product Family Description Guide, CN5000 Cables.
3.2.7.1. Cable Guidelines
Note
Building codes and electrical codes vary depending on location. Comply with all code specifications when planning the site and installing cables.
Caution
DAC/ACC cables are not rated for installation in air plenums, such as under a false floor.
When installing cables, consider the following:
Do not run cables where they can be stepped on or rolled over.
Be sure cables are intact with no cuts, nicks, or small radius bends (see the cable manufacturers specifications for details on bend radius limitations).
Provide proper strain relief for cables.
Support cables using a cable manager mounted above connectors to avoid unnecessary weight on the cable bundles.
Bundle cables using Velcro straps to avoid damaging cables.
Keep all ports and connectors free of dust.

3.2.7.2. Cable Distances
When planning the location of the switches, consider the distance limitations for signaling, EMI, and connector compatibility. Cornelis recommends not exceeding specified transmission rate and distance limits. For additional cable information, refer to the CN5000 Product Family Description Guide, CN5000 Cables.
