Cornelis Technical Documentation

5.1. Introduction

5.1.1. Intended Audience

This document is intended for fabric administrators and other personnel with similar qualifications.

5.1.2. Best Practices

Note the following Cornelis recommendations:

  • Always update to the latest versions of Omni-Path firmware and software to obtain the most recent functional and security updates. These can be found in the Cornelis Customer Center.

  • Administrators should log out users and disable multi-user logins prior to performing provisioning and similar tasks.

  • Configure the MgmtAllowed setting and consider limiting access to port configuration changes by limiting access to Userspace Management Datagrams (UMADs). Refer to User Query Permissions for more information.

  • Commit all of your provisioning changes together during a time when the system is quiet, such as after hours.

A restart can be disruptive, though necessary. Multiple sweeps can occupy resources.

5.1.3. Layout and Document Organization

Each main chapter in this document provides the following:

  • A Configuration section containing the tasks you may need to perform.

  • Subsequent sections containing the details to learn more about the chapter topic.
