3.5.2. Setting Up Additional Fabric Managers

Set up additional Fabric Manager nodes if the fabric will have more than one Fabric Manager node. Previous sections in this installation guide described how to perform basic software installation, setup, and verification on the nodes in a fabric. This section describes how to install and configure the management software itself.

Note

The following procedures assume a symmetrical configuration where all Fabric Manager nodes have the same connectivity and capabilities.

In asymmetrical configurations where the Fabric Manager nodes are not all connected to the same set of management networks and subnets, the files copied to each Fabric Manager node may need to be slightly different. For example, configuration files for fabric analysis may indicate different port numbers and MPI may need to list different hosts.

For multiple-subnet configurations, refer to the CN5000 Topologies and Routing Guide, Multi-Rail Topologies.

3.5.2.1. Assumption

Before proceeding, it is assumed the user is logged into the primary Fabric Manager node.

3.5.2.2. Procedures

Repeat the following steps on each additional Fabric Manager node.

  1. Copy the configuration files from the primary or initial Fabric Manager node to each new Fabric Manager node. At a minimum, the following files must be copied:

    /etc/opa/opafastfabric.conf
    /etc/opa/topology*.xml
    opafm.xml

To set up a secondary FM:

  1. Edit the opafm.xml file on each Fabric Manager node as needed.

  2. Restart the FM using ./opafm start to make the changes take effect.
