MAD

Management Datagram - This is a standard message format for the subnet administrator to communicate with an InfiniBand device.

MC

Multicast - This is a group communication where data transmission is addressed to multiple destination computers simultaneously.

MFT

Multicast Forwarding Tables - This is a matrix that contains an entry for every multicast group whose data delivery tree branches at the router.

MGID

Multicast Group Identifier - This ID number maps multicast source, the multicast address, and the VLAN.

MLID

Multicast Local Identifier - This value, allocated by the subnet manager, identifies a multicast group used by switches to route packets.

Message Passing Interface - This is a standardized means of exchanging messages between multiple computers running a parallel program across distributed memory

MTU

Maximum Transmission Unit - This is the size of the largest protocol data unit or data packet that can be sent in a single network layer transaction.

OFA

OpenFabrics Alliance - This non-profit organization promotes remote direct memory access switched fabric technologies for server and storage connectivity for use in high-performance computing.

OFED

OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution - This is open-source software for RDMA and kernel bypass applications.

OOB

Out-of-Band - This is an activity that is outside of any primary communication channel.

OUI

Organizationally Unique Identifier - Administered by the IEEE, this is the part of the MAC Address that identifies the vendor of the network adapter (often referred to as the company_id). It is the first three bytes of the six-byte field.
