Glossary

TCL

Tool Command Language - This is an open-source multi-purpose C library that includes a powerful dynamic scripting language.

TLS

Transport Layer Security - This cryptographic protocol is designed to provide communications security over a computer network.

UDP

User Datagram Protocol - This communication protocol is used across the Internet for especially time-sensitive transmissions.

USB

Universal Serial Bus - This a plug and play interface allows a computer to communicate with peripheral devices.

VF

Virtual Fabric (also called vFabric) - This network architecture partitions a single physical network into logical networks or fabrics. vFabrics permit multiple applications to be run on the same fabric at the same time with limited interference.

VF

Virtual Function - In the context of Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV), a VF is a lightweight Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) function that represents a virtualized instance of a physical PCIe device. VFs are associated with a Physical Function (PF).

VL

Virtual Lane - This feature allows multiple, multiplexed, independent data to stream onto a single physical link.

VLAN

Virtual Local Area Network - This is a logical overlay network that groups together a subset of devices that share a physical LAN, isolating the traffic for each group.
