Open Issues
The following table lists the open issues for this release.
ID | Description | Workaround |
|---|---|---|
STL-78122 | After restarting the Fabric Manager, the switch does not rejoin IPoIB multicast groups. | Restart IPoIB on the switch by disabling and re-enabling it: network ib --disable network ib --enable |
STL-77842 | nmap port scan of IPoIB address causes switch instability. | Do not run nmap port scan against the switch over the IPoIB network. |
STL-77720 | The switch IPoIB interface (ib0) fails to establish carrier and remains down when the fabric's default multicast group MTU is configured above 4096 bytes (for example, 10K MTU for Accelerated IP/AIP support). | None. |
STL-77407 | Unable to delete IPoIB IPv6 address after adding it. | None. |
STL-76677 | When removing SSH keys, partial matches of the comment could remove more keys than intended. | When removing an SSH key, use the entire comment of the key. |
Product Limitations
This release has the following product limitations:
The OpenBMC Web User Interface is not supported.
Updating the switch components (BMC/ASIC) in-band with the firmware update tool fails if the switch is running firmware older 12.2.x. You must update the firmware to 12.2 or greater before using in-band firmware updates.

STL-64974 | Failures have been observed when running the IMB-EXT "Window" benchmark using the OPX Provider and ppn greater than (num_user_contexts/2). | To run the IMB-EXT benchmark with the OPX Provider and higher PPN, reload the hfi1 module with an increased num_user_contexts value. For example, if the server has 40 physical cores and you want to run one IMB-EXT process per core, increase the number of hfi1 contexts to 80. See the CN5000 Performance Tuning Guide, “HFI1 Driver Module Parameters” for instructions. The benchmark can now be run with #contexts/2 = 40 PPN, one for each CPU core. |
Product Limitations
This release has the following limitations:
OPX Software releases 12.2.0 and 12.3.0 cannot be simultaneously deployed in an Omni-Path fabric with Bulk Transfer Service (BTS) enabled due to wire protocol differences introduced by recent performance optimizations.
If you plan to deploy in a hybrid fabric with OPA100 and CN5000 interoperating together, contact support@cornelis.com for guidance before deploying this release.
IPoIB connected mode and the verbs IPoIB datapath with Accelerated IP (AIP) disabled have been deprecated. Both remain functional in this release but are no longer recommended, may exhibit known issues, and will be removed in a future release.
The supported configurations are IPoIB datagram mode with AIP enabled (default), and the AIP HFISVC transmit mode (ipoib_tx_mode=hfisvc).
When running MVAPICH3 with the OPX provider of libfabric, a
*** buffer overflow detected ***error may cause the job to terminate. This issue has been observed when running with a high number of processes, particularly when using 1 process per core (that is, the maximum number of processes the system can support). A workaround is to set the environment variableMV2_ENABLE_AFFINITY=0to disable CPU affinity.Queries to single port adapters will reflect that there are two ports with the first port always showing as offline.
Running of MPI jobs across both CN5000 and OPA100 components in hybrid fabrics (fabrics where CN5000 and OPA100 are connected) is not presently supported.
In the opafm.xml file, the default HFI port for fm0 must be set as follows for proper operation:
For Version I SuperNIC boards:
<Name>fm0</Name> <Hfi>1</Hfi> <Port>2</Port>For Version II SuperNIC boards:
<Name>fm0</Name> <Hfi>1</Hfi> <Port>1</Port>To determine which generation board you have, refer to the Prerequisites under CN5000 Maintenance and Troubleshooting Guide, "Replace the SuperNIC".
Non-default
MinShareVLMemandDedicatedVLMemvalues are not supported. Only use default values. Some distros versions may ship with ib_qib driver enabled. This driver is incompatible with the OPX Software and may result in errors such as
disagrees about version of symbolin logs. Setblacklist ib_qib.During link bring up on a mixed OPA100/CN5000/CN6000 fabric the FM log may show "Mismatch/Unable to set SCVL_t Map" warnings and link bounces may be observed as the fabric comes up. These messages and link bounces are expected on mixed fabrics and do not indicate a fault.
Enabling vFabrics with QoS results in Neighbor Mismatch/Unable to set SCVL_nt Map and Failed to init SL Maps in the log, and port bounces. There is no workaround. Port bounces are part of the standard recovery mechanism. These messages should only occur once and only when there is a change in the SCVL maps.
opainfo displays a single port adapter as a dual port adapter. No workaround. This is informational.
Ubuntu server fails to boot with more than one CN5000 Omni-Path installed. Ubuntu platforms cannot host multiple SuperNICs.
MVAPICH-Plus 4.1 for GPU is not supported.
The sph_exa application in SpecHPC hangs when using Open MPI. Set the following when running Open MPI:
-mca topo ^treematch
ibtracertis not supported in the Omni-Path environment. As an alternative, useopareport -o linksoropaextractlink.

Issues
This section lists the resolved and open issues.
Resolved Issues
The following table lists issues that are resolved in this release.
ID | Description | Resolved in Release |
|---|---|---|
STL-78579 | On the RDE NetworkDeviceFunction resource, the SystemGUID and PermanentSystemGUID properties report a synthesized value that does not match the host sys_image_guid and cannot be verified against any host source. This is an informational identity field with no functional impact. | 12.4.0 |
STL-78577 | Per-port InfiniBand identity is not discoverable on the RDE Port resource because it exposes only a synthesized Ethernet MAC address and does not report the InfiniBand PortGUID. | 12.4.0 |
STL-78574 | The link state that RDE reports may be inconsistent or incorrect for management clients because the mapping from InfiniBand physical port states (Offline, Init, Polling) to the Redfish Port LinkStatus enumeration is unverified and undocumented. | 12.4.0 |
STL-78573 | RDE management clients may incorrectly identify the fabric as Ethernet. On an InfiniBand HFI, the Redfish/RDE Port resource reports PortProtocol and LinkNetworkTechnology as Ethernet and provides a synthesized MAC address. These values conflict with the sibling NetworkDeviceFunction, which correctly reports InfiniBand. | 12.4.0 |
STL-72988 | When updating firmware in a CN5000 SuperNIC in a management node, updateAgent times out when the FM is running at the same time. | 12.4.0 |
STL-71647 | On rare occasions, the link may come up at a width less than 4X. | 12.4.0 |
Open Issues
The following table lists the open issues for this release.
ID | Description | Workaround |
|---|---|---|
STL-78576 | Inventory and asset management tools cannot identify the product from Redfish because the Model and SKU properties on the RDE NetworkAdapter and PCIeDevice resources report the raw PCI device ID (0x0001) instead of the product name and SKU. | None. |
STL-77756 | After updating the SuperNIC firmware using updateAgent, one or more SuperNIC cards in a multi-card system may remain in a "Pending" firmware state following an AC power cycle. Additional AC power cycles do not resolve the issue. | Re-run the updateAgent firmware update on the affected SuperNIC card(s). To help ensure all cards complete the firmware update on the first attempt, fully power off the system (not just a power cycle) and wait at least one minute before powering back on, allowing all card capacitors to fully discharge. |
STL-76776 | Network connectivity may fail after hot-swapping cables of different types on the SuperNIC. | Reboot the host to detect the new cables. |
STL-76555 | HPC service nodes with live user sessions (such as head, NFS, and Lustre nodes) may be disrupted after a SuperNIC firmware update with updateAgent. Activating the new firmware requires a full server power-off; a warm reboot or adapter-level reset will not work. | None. |
STL-76323 | SuperNICs may intermittently fail to enumerate on the PCIe bus or initialize after a cold boot or power cycle. In affected systems, one or more SuperNICs may be absent from the OS, preventing the node from participating in the fabric until the device is successfully detected and initialized. | Power cycle the server. |
STL-75609 | The updateAgent tool may become stuck when downgrading SuperNIC firmware. | Use |
STL-75344 | PXE boot over IPv4 intermittently fails with | None. |
STL-74502 | When updating SuperNIC firmware with multiple SuperNIC adapters in a server, some cards may fail to properly update. | Disable the port on the failed SuperNIC cards using |
STL-73738 | Reloading the ipoib kernel module without also reloading the hfi1 module may cause FM errors. | To avoid this, always reload the hfi1 module along with the ipoib module. |
STL-73195 | When updating the SuperNIC firmware using
| Retry the |
STL-73088 | On some dual-port devices, inbound IPoIB traffic may fail after a system reboot, or after restarting the FM and IPoIB interfaces on the FM node. | Ping out from the unreachable interface, and IP traffic will resume. |
STL-72817 | When reading hfi1 port counters from sysfs, you will receive an | This message can be ignored. |
STL-72583 | In some cases the dmesg log may contain a message stating:
| This is cosmetic and will not affect functionality. |
STL-72598 | In some cases, when unloading hfi1 or ib_ipoib, the dmesg log may display an error stating:
| This message can be ignored. |
Product Limitations
This release has the following product limitations:
lspci does not enumerate the SuperNIC with ASPM enabled, causing the BIOS screen on Intel D50DNP platforms to lock up. Disable ASPM in the BIOS.
SuperNICs received from Cornelis with firmware version prior to 12.0.2.0.6 do not include UEFI (Option ROM). Contact Cornelis Customer Support for firmware and update procedures.
Update agent fails to update the SuperNIC Firmware when the OPX Software version is 12.0.2 or newer and SuperNIC Firmware is version is 12.0.1.
To work around this limitation, reduce OPX Software version to 12.0.1, update the SuperNIC Firmware to version 12.0.2, then reinstall the 12.0.2 or newer OPX Software.
CN5000 SuperNIC enumerates at x4 PCIe width on some platforms if the width is not forced to x16 in the BIOS. Configure the BIOS to enforce PCIe x16 width.

Resolved Issues
The following table lists the resolved issues for this release.
ID | Description | Resolved in Release |
|---|---|---|
STL-71647 | On rare occasions, the link may come up at a width less than 4X. | 12.4.0 |
Open Issues
The following table lists the open issues for this release.
ID | Description | Workaround |
|---|---|---|
STL-74480 | When a switch port operating in subdivided (2X) mode is disabled and re-enabled, it does not return to full-width 4X mode. | After replacing a bifurcated (Y-cable) connection with a straight QSFP cable, a switch power cycle is required to restore the port to 4X mode. |
STL-74370 | ASIC firmware update may fail with the following message: Error during firmware update Not that this message is seen when checking the status using the | Retry the ASIC firmware update. |
STL-73361 | On rare occasions, links connecting a CN5000 switch to an OPA100 adapter may unexpectedly bounce. | No action required, the link will self recover. |
STL-72526 | The Fabric Manager system log port numbering is different from Switch CLI command port numbering. | For details, contact support@cornelis.com for technical advisory TA0061. |
Product Limitations
This release has the following product limitations:
Updating the switch components (BMC/ASIC) in-band with the firmware update tool fails if the switch is running firmware older 12.2.x. You must update the firmware to 12.2 or greater before using in-band firmware updates.
